Maddux gets win #341, Padres roll

Greg Maddux finally picked up career win #341 as the Padres defeated the Rockies last night 8-0. It was Maddux's first win since June 27 although he has pitched well over his last several starts. In his last five starts he had given up a total of 10 runs but was 0-2.

Last night the Padres jumped on starter, Jeff Francis, for 7 runs through the first three innings. That was all Maddux and the bullpen needed as they went on to shut the Rockies out. (For the record, Maddux went 5 2/3 innings).

The Padres pull within two games of the west leading Diamondbacks and maintain a slim one game lead in the wild card race.
